Nolan is known as a very intriguing, well studied director in that many film schools and film critics often analyze and study his films and the themes they attempt to express. He is well known for crossing the line between being a directing auteur and being a very successful director in regards to the highly successful box office returns of his films.
He has frequently collaborated with many of the same people on many different aspects of his films, including sharing producing duties with his wife Emma Thomas and writing duties with younger brother Jonathon. He also uses many of the same actors on most of his films, including his most frequent actor Michael Caine, who has appeared in six of his films.
