She appeared in several William Shakespeare plays, including Hamlet (as Ophelia) and The Tempest (as Miranda). She has won numerous awards for her acting on stage throughout the years.

 

Blanchett has been married to playwright and screenwriter Andrew Upton since 1997 and has three sons with him. Upton is also Australian and after spending many years in England, they have returned to their native land to live. In explaining the move, she has stated that she desired to be closer to her family and to have a more permanent home for her children.
